🤲 Meaning behind design?
As a child of war refugees, I wanted to channel my grief, anger, rage, hope, and wish for a liberated future. I have always wanted to speak up about the injustices and atrocities of war, but never could find the right words.

The butterflies have flags and symbols for Palestine, Iran, Sudan, and Congo. I feel the struggle of all these people are related to my family’s experience in the Vietnam War. And that our freedoms are all inextricably linked to one another.

Each month, I will research, share, and donate to one organization helping support the wellbeing of children and adults in these countries as a way to steadily commit to educating myself.

✨ What’s happening in Sudan?
Since April 2023, cities in Sudan like Darfur and Khartoum have been destroyed and over 9 million people have been forced to flee their homes. Civilians face bombings, ethnic cleansing, hunger, and the collapse of hospitals and schools. Children are out of school, and families live in unsafe conditions with little help from the outside world.
This is all because two rival military groups are fighting for control of the country.

✨ What gives me hope?
In 2019, Sudanese civilians—especially youth and women—came together in a peaceful revolution to overthrow a dictator. They showed the world their strong desire for democracy and a better future. Now, those same people are caught in the middle of war. We are not here to save them, but to stand in solidarity and support their fight for dignity and lasting peace they deserve.

✨ Why this organization?
After much reflection, I noticed I haven’t seen many fundraiser for mental health resources for those fleeing war. Fundraisers for food, water, and safe shelter are just as important, but I wanted to make sure people had the resources to heal from the psychological damage war leaves us.

✨ Where does the rest of the 50% go towards?
Supports my labor, printing costs, packaging, and transaction fees.

✨ When do you change fundraisers?
Benefitting fundraiser will change monthly or with notice.
